Now running 1.21.4, goodbye map resets!!

Livecraft has been updated to Minecraft 1.21.4, including all plugins. Aside from a minor issue impacting the seeeeeecret cake room and the parkour course tracker at spawn, everything is working as expected!

Separately, I have made the decision that Livecraft will no longer have map resets. The map we currently have will be the “permanent” map for Livecraft. With every major update, the server will have uninhabited chunks trimmed. This means if you explore somewhere new, you will get the new Minecraft features such as trial chambers, pale gardens, and whatever is new in the future.

Lastly, I am going to be putting more focus into the Livecraft website as the website has ironically outlived some of the chat platforms we’ve used to discuss on like Hangouts and Skype!

Building Help Wanted!

Livecraft’s Beta 1.7.3 server needs a better spawn! If you’re interested in the challenge of building with a limited block palette and open to helping out, let me know!

Tricky Trials!

Livecraft has been updated to Minecraft 1.21.1! There are a few noteworthy changes listed below.

Plugin Changes

  • We have migrated from BlockLocker (Lockette) to Bolt. This change now makes chests private when placed and commands are used to unlock or share them. All previous [Private] signs will still exist and will be converted to Bolt protections.
  • Updated Geyser to improve Bedrock support.

Datapack Changes

  • Cauldron Concrete: Convert concrete powder to concrete by throwing it into a cauldron
  • Cauldron Mud: Convert dirt to mud by throwing it into a cauldron
  • Dragon Drops: The Ender Dragon now drops 1 elytra and 1 dragon egg upon its death
  • Mini Blocks: Get mini blocks from stonecutters & wandering traders
  • More Effective Tools: Blocks which previously did not have an effective tool, such as glass, now have an effective tool which allows for quicker mining.
  • Silk Touch Budding Amethyst: Silk Touch now works with budding amethyst 👀
  • Villager Death Messages: Find out when and where a villager died
  • Wandering Trader Announcements: Find out when a wandering trader arrives
  • XP Bottling: Right click an enchantment table with an empty glass bottle to convert some experience to XP bottles.

Mod Changes

  • Removed Beenfo as it is no longer supported
  • Added server-side support for Xaero’s Minimap
  • Added server-side support for CustomPlayerModels
  • Added server-side support for EmoteCraft
  • Extended support for Simple Voice Chat. Voice chat can now interact with skulk sensors.

World Changes

  • Trimmed uninhabited chunks from the world. An uninhabited chunk is defined as a chunk that has been loaded less than 5 minues. This results in trial chambers spawning in new chunks.

Creeper explosions are now disabled on the Beta server. You may see the explosions still appear client-side, but they do not exist on the server any more and will no longer drop blocks. In the event a creeper blows up a sign, the sign may appear blank until you relog.

I am looking into building a newer copy of CreeperHeal, but I am very inexperienced with Java so this will have to do for now

Hello, Betacraft, and hello again to our old domains!

I wanted to say hello to the Betacraft community! Livecraft’s Beta 1.7.3 server was recently added to the Betacraft Launcher‘s server list. The Betacraft launcher provides a very convenient way to play Beta Minecraft online as it was meant to be played. Mojang has not fixed the login and server authentication issues despite promising to do so in 2022! The launcher has some extras, including the old door, arrow, and egg sounds for full beta immersion.

Betacraft’s newest 2.0 launcher is currently in alpha, and one of the changes made is adding support for modern Minecraft versions. I will be looking to add Livecraft’s modern server to that list once I have the opportunity to do so.

Welcome, Betacraft community! I hope you enjoy our server as much as we have.

Also, I have some exciting news! After years, our old domains livecraft.us and live-craft.com have finally been given up by the domain parkers/scalpers! I was able to acquire them for a very reasonable price and have configured them to redirect to livecraft.net. Anyone out there with live-craft.com or livecraft.us still in their server list will see it light up for the first time in years. ❤️

I’ve also made a few changes to our website that should prevent minor issues if you access it through mc.livecraft.net or livecraft.net. We now have a redirect that will take you to www.livecraft.net, preventing any odd sign-in issues or issues with browser extensions such as Dark Reader not remembering your preferences.

Skipping 1.20.5 & 1.20.6

We will be skipping 1.20.5/1.20.6 and updating to 1.21 as soon as our plugins properly support it. There were major breaking changes in 1.20.5 that developers need time to account for. Currently, bedrock support will not work because of this. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

1.20.5 Protocol Support

Livecraft will be having a protocol update to 1.20.5. This will allow Minecraft 1.20.5 clients to connect, but the server will still be running Minecraft 1.20.4 until we are able to update all of our plugins & resources. This will be powered by ViaVersion.

Geyser compatibility will be updated along with this process, so Bedrock clients will be able to connect as well. Please note that this does not mean we will be updating to support Minecraft 1.20.5 features!

We support Bedrock!

Through the use of a set of plugins called Geyser & Floodgate, we allow bedrock players to join & if both Bedrock & Java copies are owned, use their linked Java account on our server to play as the same user! Try it out!

To join from Switch, PlayStation, or Xbox, you’ll need to add “Livecraft9255” to your friends list. Once you do this, you’ll be able to join Livecraft by joining a cross platform friend’s world.

Beta 1.7.3 Server now live!

I’ve been feeling nostalgic lately for old Minecraft and have had performance issues on other servers, so I decided to start my own Beta server! To join, you’ll need to use a special launcher or mod to fix online mode for older versions. For details, check out our beta server information page. I’ve included instructions on how to play as well as some information about the server.

Enjoy!

mcMMO Retro Mode

I’ve disabled “retro mode” within mcMMO, which will visually change how levelling works. It’s a cosmetic change, but this will cause levelling to “feel” slower. Here’s an exerpt from the mcMMO config file:

# Turning this on will scale mcMMO around 1-1000 with default scaling factor
# Everything in your config related to skill level requirements, skill level bonuses, etc. will be multiplied by 10 when this mode is on
# This change is purely cosmetic, it retains the old feel of mcMMO where you could level up thousands of times
RetroMode:
    Enabled: false

If this proves to be unpopular, we can revert this change very easily.
Update: this doesn’t change our levels, so I am reverting lol
